[updated sept.5.02] it was a snowy December 31st, 2001, and my little puppy was born! his mom was a minature poodle, his dad a minature schnawzer - making the pup a ful-T1 schnoodle. all his brothers were pure black, but this pup was special because he was multi-coloured. after spending 7 weeks with his mother, in late February he was ready to come home with his new owner (duh, that would be me in case you're wondering where i'm going with this story). he was named Cylinder, and has been a part of my family since.
hehe that's his first pic above, sitting on my lap on the way home, looking up at me. he was quite for the first few days, just kinda sleeping next to me all day, and having to carry him everywhere since he couldn't jump on/off furniture, or up/down stairs.
![]() as the days went on, he learned to climb up stairs, but not down. so if i darted upstairs (even just for a sec to grab something), he'd follow up and then bark until i carried him down. [grin] and when i'd come home, he's be sleeping on the couch, wake up, see him, and wag his tail while running back and forth on the couch waiting for me to come over and let him down he can play and greet me. of course, now he's fully trained on going up and down, on and off, eating on his own, and - most importantly - taking care of business outdoors. [big sigh] he's a really friendly guy (too friendly sometimes - wants to jump up on too many people), and people always stop me to tell me how cute he is, ask what breed he is, compliment his colours, pet him, etc. he's a curious bugger too, insiting on stopping everywhere to sniff, and still follows me around everywhere (everywhere!) as if he's my third leg. at 9 months, i took him to a new (better) groomer and she said his hair was all mangled and had to be shaved off, so it can grow back better. i was horrified at the thought of shaving him down but c'est la vie - it had to be done. so i dropped him off and 4 hours later came back to find my little Cyl shaved down, looking completely different. he also looks bigger and much more mature.
at first i was unhappy with the look, but its growing on me (pardon the pun). i won't shave him down again, but i'll likely keep his hair more trim going forward. he seems ok with the new look. at first he seemed a bit depressed, but he got use to it. (hey, so long as he can still lick himself, i'm sure he'll be happy!)
